ATEX Zone Pipe Clamps for Explosive Atmospheres

Conductive, anti-spark stainless pipe clamps for ATEX zone 0/1/2 and 20/21/22 installations.

In ATEX-classified zones, a normal rubber-lined clamp is an isolated metal mass that can accumulate static charge — a potential ignition source. NIBRO ATEX-zone clamps use conductive static-dissipative liners and integrated bond straps to maintain electrical continuity with the pipe and the support structure.

Section 01

ATEX zone classification refresher

• Zone 0/20: continuous explosive atmosphere — gas or dust.

• Zone 1/21: occasional, occurring in normal operation.

• Zone 2/22: rare, only in abnormal conditions.

Clamps in zone 0/1/20/21 require explicit conductive design. Zone 2/22 typically accepts standard stainless if bonded.

Section 02

Conductive design features

• Static-dissipative EPDM liner (surface resistance < 10⁹ Ω).

• Internal bond strap from clamp body to pipe contact face.

• Optional external earthing lug on the mounting plate.

• Body: 316L for chemical service · 304L for grain/dust service.

• Fasteners: A4-70 with conductive nylon-free lock washers.

FAQ

Frequently asked

ATEX 2014/34/EU certifies equipment, not passive supports. The clamps are supplied with conductivity test reports and bond-strap installation drawings — the installer integrates them into the certified system.
